The whole scientific programme including the Perception Lecture, Rank Lecture and Siemens Lecture will take place in rooms of the University of Regensburg, located south of the City Center. We have booked the Auditorium Maximum (or short: Audimax) for the Lectures, Symposia and Talk Sessions as well as a large lecture room nearby (H 2) for parallel Symposia and Talk Sessions. Also poster sessions and exhibits will be located in the building of the Audimax (Zentrales Hörsaalgebäude).
Below you find a map of the university campus. Under Travel/Getting there you can find further information on how to reach the University.
The Reception on Monday will take place in the Thon-Dittmer-Palais in the Old Town of Regensburg. It is located at the north side of the Haidplatz and its frontage brings courtly elegance and architectural finesse into the medieval scenery. The old trading house with its magnificent arcades was built in the 14th century and got in possession of the Thon-Dittmer family in 1750. The Thon-Dittmer-Palais of today is a complex composed of several historic patrician buildings and combines stylistic elements of Gothic and Renaissance behind an elegant neo-classical frontage.
After the Perception Lecture on Monday busses will be organised to bring all participants to the Fischmarkt in the Keplerstraße. From there the Thon-Dittmer-Palais is in short walking distance.
The Banquet Dinner on Thursday will be held at Fürstliches Brauhaus. Formerly stables of the Thurn and Taxis dynasty and depots of the St. Emmeram Castle, the restaurant now provides a cosy brewery ambience. The shining brew kettles in the center of the dining room are best proof for the still in-house brewed beer. 14 different sorts of beer are served here, all produced in their own brewery or the Thurn-and-Taxis brewery. Besides the restaurant an idyllic beer garden under old trees and a covered palm garden in a part of the inner courtyard invite the guest to stay.
The Fürstliches Brauhaus is located in the Waffnergasse, nearby the Thurn-and-Taxis Castle and the St. Emmeram monastery in the city center.
Here they introduce their restaurant and beergarden.
The exhibition "Animal Vision" on Friday and Saturday after the official end of the conference will have its home in the Salzstadel - a historic salt barn directly north to the Old Stone Bridge.
The Historic Salt Barn was built in the years 1616 to 1620 and completely renovated by the City of Regensburg between 1989 and 1992. Today the building combines old timber-frame constructions and modern elements in an impressive manner and is used for exhibitions, conferences and other events.
