University of Regensburg
We recommend you take the Airportliner from the Munich Airport to Regensburg (advanced booking required). We have arranged a special price for ECVP participants. Upon booking your shuttle service for pick up at Munich airport. Please indicate that you are an ECVP participant. The single ride will then cost 29 EUR to your hotel in Regensburg city.
Public transportation is also possible (though not easy and thus not recommended): The Munich bus line 635 takes you from Terminal 2 to the Freising train station. From there you get to Regensburg by train within 60 to 90 minutes. BayernTicket (after 9 am) costs 25 EUR.
The Airportliner also provides transfer from the Nuremberg Airport to Regensburg. Please ask for arrangements.
From the Nuremberg Airport local buses or the underground will take you to the Nuremberg main train station (Hauptbahnhof). From there you can reach Regensburg within 60 to 90 minutes by train depending on the type of train.
The main railroad station of Regensburg is serviced by both express trains and regional trains. Regensburg is situated at the intersection of the Amsterdam – Vienne line with the Paris - Prag line. Trains from within Germany converge from Berlin/Dresden, Hamburg/Hannover, Dortmund/Cologne, Frankfurt/Stuttgart and Munich.

From the train station a twenty to thirty-minute hike will take you to the University of Regensburg , or else you can take a cab or bus lines 2b, 6 or 11 (see below).
You can pick up these bus lines near (about 100 yards from) the train station at the "Bustreff Albertstraße".
As a motorist you can reach Regensburg via Autobahn A 3 and A 93:
Exit: "Universität/Klinikum"
Then following signs to "Universität".
You can get to the underground parking area by entering Albertus-Magnus-Straße (which turns into a tunnel) and turning left at the second intersection (still inside the tunnel) onto Tiefstraße West, and left again into the underground parking area.
Exit: "Regensburg - Kumpfmühl"
Then following signs to "Universität" and join "Ludwig-Thoma-Straße".
Stay on for 2,6 km / 1.6 ml. Leave "Ludwig-Thoma-Straße" and turn right into "Universitätsstraße". At the next crossroads turn left into "Albertus-Magnus-Straße". On the right hand side you will find the underground parking area.
Included in the registration fee is a ticket for the city bus that gives you the opportunity to use all city bus lines (RVV) for free in zones 1 and 2 (which includes the whole city area) valid for the whole time of the conference including the following Saturday (August 23rd to 29th). The ticket will be handed out at registration together with a route map.
You can reach the university by bus using the lines 2b, 6 or 11 (see below for details), and debarking at the stops "Universität Haupteingang" (Main Entrance) or "Universität Mensa". You can pick up these bus lines near (about 100 yards from) the train station at the "Bus Stop Albertstraße" or at several other bus stops in the city center.
A single ride to the university will currently cost you 1,90 € (as of January 2009).
Those travelling long distance with the Deutsche Bahn (German Rail) and using a BahnCard are entitled to ride the Regensburg buses for free (= City Ticket).
From the city center to the university:
Use the bus 6 with direction "Klinikum" and debark at "Universität Mensa". From there the Audimax is to your right. If you miss the stop "Universität Mensa" you have another chance at the next stop "Universität Haupteingang", also called "Bezirksklinikum".
From the university to the city center:
Use the bus 6 with direction "Wernerwerkstraße". For this you have to use the stop "Universität Mensa" at the other side of the street where you got out. With this line you will be at "Albertstraße" near train station in about 6 minutes. Further stops in the city center are: "Dachauplatz", "Thundorferstraße", "Fischmarkt" and "Arnulfsplatz".
From the city center to the university:
Use the bus 11 with direction "Burgweinting". This bus stops at "Universität Haupteingang" (main entrance) and one stop afterwards at "Universität Mensa". The second one is a bit nearer to our venues. In both cases you'll have to cross the street to get to the Audimax.
From the university to the city center:
Use the bus 11 with direction "Roter-Brach-Weg" at the stop "Universität Haupteingang" or "Universität Mensa" without crossing the street. In about 7 minutes you will reach "Albertstraße" near train station. Further stops in the city center again are: "Dachauplatz", "Thundorferstraße", "Fischmarkt" and "Arnulfsplatz".
From the City Center to the university:
Use the bus 2B with direction "Karl-Stieler-Straße" and debark at "Universität Haupteingang" (Main Entrance). This bus will not stop at "Universität Mensa". At the stop "Universität Haupteingang" you just have to (carefully) cross the street and find yourself in front of the "Sammelgebäude". Behind this building you will find the "Zentrales Hörsaalgebäude" with the Audimax.
From the university to the city center:
At the stop "Universität Haupteingang" directly in front of the "Sammelgebäude" (without crossing the street) use the bus 2B with direction "Schwabenstraße" or "Fischmarkt". Next stops in the city center are "Bismarckplatz", "Arnulfsplatz", "Fischmarkt" , "Thundorferstraße", "Dachauplatz" and "Albertstraße" (train station). Some buses of line 2B end at "Fischmarkt" though.
